Robert J. Gates, 71, of N. Massapequa, passed away on May 14, 2022, surrounded by family. Bobby was born to Kenneth and Theresa on October 17, 1950 in Brooklyn, NY. He married his wife, Sharon, in 1972. This year would have been their 50th wedding anniversary. Sharon passed away in 2009. Bobby is survived by his daughter Cheryl and her husband Sean, and son Robert and his wife Pamela. He is also survived by five grandchildren; Kieran, Garret, Meghan, Casey, and Patrick. Bobby is the youngest of four siblings. His oldest brother Carey and his sister Jane are deceased. He is survived by his older brother Jerry. Bobby was a beloved uncle to eight nieces and nephews. Bobby was a decorated detective in the Nassau County Police Department where he served for 33 years. He loved to golf, fish, and hunt and was a great friend to many.
