Born to William Pagano and Florence Rombach April 25th 1928 in South Ozone Park, Queens. Ollie was named for his stepgrandfather, Oliver Rombach. He was a fun loving child and ambitious to help support his family. He loved his widowed mother and his siblings Marie,Emil, Dot,Florence,Dick and Barbara. He also was a big fan of the big bands of the day being a dynamic swing dancer, The Lindy his favorite.
Love at first sight, he met my charismatic mom, Regina in high school by crashing an honor class party and married her at age 21. He found it difficult when he was drafted during the Korean War to be away from his beautiful young wife as he became an army Corporal. After the service, His daughter,Jeanne was born in 1955.
He was a wonderful caregiver and a great family man. We lived in Hempstead and Plainedge while He pursued his career as a ring maker and designer of engagement rings in NYCs jewelry district and joined the NYC fire department which he loved dearly. Regina passed away at age 43 in 1972 after a long illness.
Then in June of 73 he was introduced to and married Genevieve a widow with five sons in 74. Ollie bought and moved into the farmingdale house while he worked as a ring maker of Masonic rings in Melville.
He rose to the challenge of his new family forming relationships with Steve, Tommy, Jeff, John and Glenn Buono. Through them he was to experience the joys of grandchildren. A tireless do it yourselfer he made many creative home improvements. He and Genevieve traveled and enjoyed cruises and parties with friends and relatives and neighbors in retirement.
