Obituary for Leslie Bruce Harvey

Leslie Bruce Harvey

September 14, 1965 – June 26, 2022

Leslie “Les” Bruce Harvey of Bonita Springs, FL, passed away at the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa on Sunday, June 26,2022, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was 56 years old.

Les was born in the Flushing neighborhood of Queens, NY on September 14, 1965, to parents Les and Lois (Garber) Harvey. He was the first of three children and named after his father, Leslie, and his uncle, Bruce. Les lived in Huntington, NY until 1998, when he relocated to the Naples, FL area to be closer to his parents and sister. He later moved to Bonita Springs, FL where he made many friends that he considered his family.

Those of you who were lucky to know Les will remember him for his sense of humor, great laugh, and big blue eyes – those of which he donated upon his death, giving two people the gift of sight. Les was the guy you wanted to see walk into a room because you knew the night just got a little bit better. He was always ready with a joke, introducing you to someone new, or just taking you under his wing as another “brother.” No matter the circumstance, you’d always leave with a story of something funny or crazy Les did or said while you were with him. Once you became a friend of Les’, you were a friend for life.

Les was a true patriot, extremely proud of our country and its flag. He was a member of the American Legion Post 303, Son’s of the American Legion, and American Legion Riders, where he served as Assistant Director until his illness.

Among things Les loved were the New York Yankees and New York Rangers. He also loved anything with an engine: cars, boats, and of course, motorcycles - especially his Harley Davidson. You could always count on Les to be holding court at bike night at Ralph’s Place in Cape Coral, FL.

Les is predeceased by his father, Leslie James Harvey, and is survived by his mother, Lois Ruth (Garber) Harvey, brother Lance Harvey (Jennifer), sister Nicole Harvey Burns (Bob), nieces Presley and Katherine, and nephew Nicholas. He also leaves behind his beloved partner and best friend, Nancy Jean Anderson, their dog Manny, and many dear friends.

The family is hosting a visitation at McCourt and Trudden Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, from 10am-12pm. A prayer service will begin at 12:00pm. He will be laid to rest at the St. Charles Cemetery immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to AliveAndKickn, a Lynch Syndrome hereditary cancer advocacy organization (aliveandkickn.org).
