Obituary for John J "Jack" Cottrell
Friday, March 29th, 1929 - Monday, February 12th, 2024
John J Cottrell (Jack) of Farmingdale in his 94th year, on February 12th, 2024, joined his beloved late wife Patricia (Pat). He was a devoted father and father-in-law of Arthur (Peggy), Douglas (Larry), Kenneth (Sheryl), and Philip (Rocks Ann). Cherished grandfather of six and great grandfather of four.
Jack had a 40-year engineering career at Grumman Aerospace Corporation in Bethpage where he also enjoyed being a member of the Grumman Amateur Radio Club. Jack was a member and Past Master of the Bethpage Masonic Lodge #975 (St. Albans Lodge #56) and a member of the Eastern Star. He was a leader and involved for many years in Boy Scout Troop 601. He volunteered for many years at the Farmingdale Adult Day Care where he played the keyboard and piano leading singing for what he called “the old folks” and was active playing music for the St Luke’s Prime Timers. Jack’s music and personality brought encouragement and joy to many people on Long Island throughout his lifetime.
The family will receive friends Monday 2-5pm & 7-9pm at the McCourt and Trudden Funeral Home, Inc. 385 Main St. Farmingdale. Religious Service Monday 8pm at the Funeral Home. Funeral Tuesday 11am-Interment Pinelawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers-donations to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Farmingdale are appreciated.www.mccourtandtrudden.org
