Obituary for Helen V Nicholson
Nicholson, Helen Veronica (Peggy), formerly of Farmingdale, NY, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at the age of 99 with a serene view of the Great South Bay and the beautiful Robert Moses Bridge from her room at the Babylon Beach House where she resided and was lovingly cared for during the last 7 years of her life.
Born to Charles and Madaline Frankhauser on September 9, 1923, they resided in Manhasset, NY with her 6 siblings and attended Ladycliff Academy for Girls before working at Grumman where she met her husband of 63 years. On January 23, 1946, she married James R.
Nicholson of Glen Cove, NY and raised 5 children in Farmingdale, NY where they happily lived for more than 60 years. She is predeceased by her parents, devoted husband James, her 6 siblings, and beloved grandson, Trapper. This adored matriarch is survived by her 5 children, James, Dennis (Mary), Patrick (Lori), Maureen (Dania), and Michael (Joanne); cherished MomMom of Aiden, Julie, Rebecca, Gemma, and Michael; and great-grandmother of Inara and Soraya.
Besides spending time with her family and spoiling her grandchildren, Peggy enjoyed cooking, crochet, and watching sports. She was a devout Catholic who traveled to different countries visiting sacred sites and cathedrals. She touched the lives of many with her radiant
smile, passion for life, and words of wisdom.
Funeral mass will be held Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at xxx at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in West Islip, NY. Entombment at St. Charles Cemetery. The arrangements entrusted to McCourt & Trudden Funeral Home, Inc., 385 Main Street, Farmingdale, NY. In lieu
of flowers, donations to the Make A Wish Foundation or National Alliance of Mental Illness in Peggy’s name would be appreciated.
