Obituary for Helen M Martin
Helen Marie Burke, 78, of Farmingdale passed away peacefully on July 11, 2020 surrounded by her loving family in Farmingdale at home this morning.
Helen unfortunately lost her battle with cancer over the last five years, however, she won in life.
Helen Marie Bridgitte Burke Martin was born in Manhattan New York to Charles and Mary Burke on July 22, 1941. Helen went to school in Bronx, NY. She married James S. Martin on October 31, 1964 in Bronx, New York. Helen made her career serving people at the Farmingdale library and worked for an orthopedic physician group at Nassau University Medical Center. After raising 4 handsome men, welcoming 4 beautiful daughter in laws into their family and spoiling 10 grandchildren....Happily Helen and Pop Jim retired in their mid 50’s, traveled across the country touring their RV to over 48 states. Making many new friends along the way.
Helen loved to sing in the church choir and at home especially at any of her childrens or grandchildren’s birthday celebrations! She was a member of St. Killian’s Parish and sang in the church choir for nearly 50 years.
Helen is preceded in death by her parents.
Helen is survived by her beloved husband James Martin, Four adoring sons, James and spouse Christine, Charlie and spouse Joann, Timothy and spouse Jennifer, & Peter and spouse Laura. Loving sister Mary and spouse Bob.
Proud grandma to TJ, Meaghan, Kayla, Victoria, Christopher, Erin, Timothy, Sean, Lainie, and Ryan-Peter. Special Aunt, Cousin, and Dear Friend to all.
