Obituary for Evelyn Lillian Armstrong

Evelyn L. Armstrong nee Colarossi was born on May 12, 1935, which was Mother’s Day. She was born in Brooklyn and lived most of her adult life in Farmingdale, NY. God called her Home on September 19, 2021.
She was the daughter of the late Armando and Ninfa (Eva) Colarossi nee Lanza. She was the loving wife of Kevin J. Armstrong for 37 years, who died in 1998. Survived by her sisters-in-law Margery and Yolene Armstrong, and Josephine Colarossi. Proceeded in death by her sister, Evelyn, and brothers, Armand and Frank Colarossi. Loving mother to Doreen Ward, Gerald and his wife, Regina, and Brian & Kenneth Armstrong. Proceeded in death by her son-in-law, Harold (Buzz) Ward. She proudly and lovingly held the title of Grandma for her granddaughter, Ashlie, and her grandson, Kevin. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy! She is also survived by many nieces and nephews along with grandnieces and grandnephews. Family was so important to her and she loved to spend time with them.
Most of her childhood and early adult years were spent in the Bronx. After graduating high school, she worked for New York Life Insurance Company, where she met the love of her life, Kevin. They moved to Farmingdale where they lived and raised four children. She supported her husband and children as a devoted spouse and loving mother. She always actively encouraged us to volunteer, dance or play baseball. Supporting her family was the paramount force of her life – she succeeded when those she loved found success! She enjoyed playing cards and cooking an Italian meal for those she loved. She was also a great friend to many and will be sorely missed!
The viewing will be held on Sunday, September 26, 2021 from 4 to 8PM at McCourt & Trudden Funeral Home, 385 Main Street, Farmingdale, NY.
