Obituary for Bruno Salamon

Bruno Salamon of Fairfax, VA passed away at his home on Wednesday, July 6, 2022. He was 72.

Bruno is survived by his ex-wife and the mother of his children Susan; his children Brunelle (husband John), Vincent (wife Joyce), Veronica (husband Paul), and Luke (wife Ally); his grandchildren Brendan, Mallory, Maeve, Tristan, Taylor, Isabella, Rory and Connor; and his brother Sandro and sister Rita. He is predeceased by his parents Michael and Maria (née Bacchia), and his siblings Albino & Robert.

Bruno was born in Krsan, Yugoslavia on November 26, 1949. He immigrated to the United States with his family when he was 10. The family settled in Brooklyn, NY and he graduated with honors from The Bernard M. Baruch College in June 1978.

In 1970, Bruno joined the armed forces serving in the United States Navy as a Chief Petty Officer until 1976.

Bruno’s love of aviation led him to employment at several FAA companies, including Grumman and NASA. He put his formidable talent for mathematics and finance to work, eventually rising to CFO of Metron Aviation. At the time of his death, Bruno was Assistant to the President of ATAC Corporation.

For much of his life, Bruno was an avid golfer, often taking trips to play on golf courses around the country. He also loved music and always sent his children lyrics and songs he thought they would enjoy. His favorite band was The Moody Blues and he racked up quite a few miles traveling to their performances in different cities.

Bruno was also a generous man who believed in giving back. He was an avid supporter of many organizations.

A wake is scheduled for Tuesday, July 12, 2022, from 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM at McCourt & Trudden Funeral Home, 385 Main Street, Farmingdale, NY 11735. A funeral mass is scheduled for Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at 9:30 am at St. Kilian Church, 485 Conklin Street, Farmingdale, NY 11735.
