Obituary for Beverly Ann Jackson

Beverley Ann Corriea Jackson was born on June 8th, 1935, in Jamaica, West Indies to Reginald and Gladys Luna Corriea.
She was the baby of the family and given the pet name of Pearl, as she was the pearl of her mother’s eye. Siblings that predeceased Beverly Jackson were, Elsie Williams, the eldest of the siblings, Joyce Corriea, Eric Corriea, her only brother lovingly known as Satta, and Cyriline McMorris, aka Tula.
Beverley attended Convent of Mercy Academy “Alpha” in Jamaica and worked for years at Henriquez Jewelers until she migrated to the United States.
During travels with family Beverley met Earl Charles Jackson at the World’s Fair in Brussels. He was stationed there while in the army. Earl persisted that she date and marry him. His persistence won out and on November 11, 1959, they were married in Jamaica, West Indies.
Beverley and Earl were married for 61 years and had 4 children; Rosemarie Gilbert (Mark), Dorothy Siff (Michael), Robert and Nicole.
They briefly resided in Seattle, Washington and Brooklyn, New York before settling in Commack, NY where they raised their family and went on to foster dozens of children through the years, providing a temporary home when their biological parents could not.
Beverley was known for her unwavering commitment, hard work and long careers at Suffolk State School later renamed Long Island Developmental Center and United Cerebral Palsy as well as Family Residential Essential Enterprise, retiring officially in 2010 after decades of steadfast service. Together with Earl they purchased a home in Virginia where they enjoyed their retirement and golden years together.
Beverley loved to cook and entertain, often having a full house of family and friends. She took pride in her Thanksgiving dinners incorporating her Jamaican roots with Earl’s southern roots creating delicious feasts complete with homemade desserts including sweet potato pie and her infamous German Chocolate cake! She hosted an annual 4th of July barbecue and pool party, often taking at least a week to prepare the backyard patio, husk corn, and season her famous hamburgers for upwards of 75 + guests. Cars were lined up and down Dovecote Lane and music filled the neighborhood into the late evening hours!
Beverley had a lifelong spiritual journey and was the member of several churches and congregations throughout her lifetime. She was closely intertwined with the Huie family with whom all occasions, holidays and daily living was shared.
Beverley, “Pearl”, was full of life and laughter and loved to shop and travel with family. She took many cruises with her family and friends. She deeply loved her Jamaican background and heritage and enjoyed traveling back with her family during holidays to Negril, Ocho Rios, Montego Bay and Kingston. She was a fashionista at heart and rarely was known to be without the latest highlight trend in her hair.
Beverley was predeceased by her parents and most recently her husband Earl. She was the proud grandmother of 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and Godchildren whom she loved as her own.
