Obituary for Arthur Patrick Sullivan

Arthur P. Sullivan, 102, of Dunnellon, FL formerly of Elmont, NY passed peacefully at home in his favorite chair with his loving family. He was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia to Martha (Shortt) and John Sullivan. Arthur emigrated to the United States with his parents and settled in Ohio where he spent most of his boyhood years. They then moved to Astoria, N.Y. where he met his wife and love of his life, Mildred (Micki) Hildebrandt. He was two years into pre-med when he was drafted into the Army for World War II. He married Mildred while on leave from Fort Knox, Kentucky in 1943. He was sent overseas to Germany and served in the 566th Heavy Tank Ordinance Company.

After the war the newlyweds settled in Bayside N.Y. and started a family. They then moved to Elmont, NY where they raised 4 daughters and lived until retirement. After some looking around they decided to retire to beautiful Dunnellon, FL in 1988

Arthur served as a lector for the Catholic Church both in N.Y. and in Dunnellon and his wife Micki sang in the choirs. He was an avid golfer, a runner, loved to solve knotty problems and could fix anything you brought him. Arthur’s positive attitude and adventurous spirit was his key to a long life. He was remembered for his smile and his dashing good looks. He was a much loved Father and family man and traveled with them to many places far and near. He was a beloved Husband, Father, Brother, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, Uncle and friend. Hawk eye was his nickname because he didn’t miss a thing!

Arthur was predeceased by his loving wife Micki Sullivan and his daughter Kathleen Osuji. He is survived by his daughters Patricia Schwartz, Jeanette James and Lisa Quinn, His son-in-law Keith Quinn, Grandchildren, Ruth David, Ivan David, Isaiah David, Rena David, Alexa LaGrande, Alexander David and Kaitlin Quinn, Great-Grandchildren, Shaiah, Kayla, Yashimay, Maya, Montgomery, Jaxson and Zara.
