Obituary for Antonia "Anne" Casalino

Antonia ‘Anne/Annie’ Casalino
December 18, 1931 – July 6, 2022
Antonia ‘Anne’ Casalino passed on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at the wonderful age of 90. Loving wife to the late Joseph. Beloved mother to Joseph (& Liza) and Anthony (& Sue) and grandchildren Francesca, Gabrielle and Christopher. Adored by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Anne was born in Farmingdale, NY on Long Island on December 18, 1931 to Vito Antonio and Eleanora Porreca and was the oldest sibling to Rose Iadevaia and the late Margie Porreca. Antonio and Eleanora migrated from their hometowns of Acquaviva della Fonti and Santeramo in Colle in the Puglia region of Italy near Bari in the 1920’s and resided in Farmingdale, LI where they ran an Oil and Ice business throughout the years.
Anne lived most of her life living in Farmingdale on Fulton Street and attended the original Farmingdale Elementary and High School located on Main Street which is now home of the CVS and Blink Fitness center.
While being Maid of Honor to her sister Rose, she met the love of her life Joseph ‘Sonny’ Casalino. They married in September 1957 at St Kilian’s Church in Farmingdale. Sonny and Anne enjoyed 63 years of a wonderful marriage.
Anne had an incredible passion for everything beautiful. When outdoors, she loved gardening and was still planting flowers on the day she passed. She loved her yard and was dedicated to it pristine beauty and garden décor.
From a personal standpoint, she took great pride to look the best that she could. She would never miss an appointment with her hairdresser or nail salon right up to her last days. During her younger years, while the husbands known as the ‘Pinnacle 6’ played the card game every Friday night, Anne would be found at her sister Rose’s house in the basement’s beauty parlor with the other wives getting their hair done in preparation for a big Saturday night out. She loved buying clothes, costume jewelry, pocketbooks and shoes!!!

Although we will sorely miss her, she is now reunited with her husband Sonny, her “sweets” and can enjoy many Saturday nights in paradise. Until we meet again, rest in peace!

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made toward this memorial. Since the Village of Farmingdale Beautification Committee cannot accept electronic payments, we therefore have set up this method to collect the donations.
